About Barbara Josik

As a BACP-accredited integrative counsellor, I offer a collaborative space where your story is met with warmth and genuine curiosity. My practice is built on over six years of clinical experience – including two years at Mind in London and over four years in private practice, supporting clients through addiction, anxiety, depression, loss, and the complex weight of life’s transitions.

My integrative approach allows me to draw on various modalities, including CBT, Parts Therapy, Somatic Awareness, Narrative Therapy, and Attachment Theory to suit your specific needs and goals.

My aim is to help you connect with your authentic self while fostering self-acceptance, compassion, and resilience.

Therapy with Barbara

At the heart of my work is our therapeutic relationship. I believe that many of the struggles we experience in adult life can have their roots in earlier relationships and experiences. Because of this, I aim to offer a space that feels safe, supportive and collaborative – one built on empathy, compassion and trust.

I work integratively, which means I draw on different approaches depending on your needs. This may include:

Psychodynamic Exploration: I help you bring limiting unconscious beliefs into conscious awareness by identifying recurring patterns from your childhood and past experiences. This process helps you identify the root causes of your emotional distress rather than just managing the symptoms. Once these patterns are brought to light, they lose their power over you, giving you the freedom to build a life that feels authentic and new.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: I use CBT to help you challenge negative thought processes and internal narratives, providing practical tools to manage anxiety, panic attacks and inner critic. By transforming your relationship with your thoughts, you gain the confidence to face challenging situations with a calmer, more balanced perspective instead of feeling overwhelmed by them.

Somatic Awareness: For those who find it difficult to put feelings into words, I use body scans and somatic dialogue to help you connect with and give a voice to unprocessed emotions held within the body. By learning to listen to your body’s physical signals, you can release stored tension and develop a greater sense of internal safety and emotional resilience.

Whatever we explore, I will always work with care and sensitivity, and at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Working in English and Polish

I offer therapy in both English and Polish. For many, speaking in their native language allows for a deeper, more fluid expression of emotion.
